Well, even without the ImageReady, you still can slice the image but it will be more troublesome. You could use the ruler function then use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select the crop area. Then press ALT + CTRL + C, then CTRL N , then CTRL V.

Finally save the images in the optimized mode. TADAH.
