Walking Away . . .

I’m walking away from you
Walking away from the hurt and pain
I can’t think of anything better to do
With nothing to lose I’ve only to gain

You don’t even notice that I’m walking away
I honestly thought that you would
I want you to run after me and beg me to stay
I tried to make this friendship work, I did all I could.

However I’ve learned that friendship-it takes two
I am quite sure there used to be two not anymore
Now there’s only me no more you
Where there used to be fun it feels more like war

So I’m walking away with my head held high
My eyes on the other hand look down
Hiding the tears that come as I say good bye
And while my mouth may smile my heart will forever frown

For how can a heart not frown at this
Two people who used to together form friendship
The one doesn’t even notice something is amiss
While the other is walking away with a quivering lip . . .
