About Me:
Ya know what I don't get? 1. People who rate skins low without any reasons, 2. People who get mad because their skins are low-rated.
Some people who rate skins low actually do have good reasons. Why not take the comments into account and try to improve rather than dissing low-raters as bitches/suckers/whatever? (By the way, I am talking about those who actually go to the trouble of giving a valid reason for criticising skins.)
FYI, yes, people use browsers such as Firefox and Opera, and they are more widespread than you expect. Not to mention much more secure and faster than IE. And yes, a true pro would always make their work cross-compatible. In other words, looking exactly the same in every resolution, and every browser. Pointing this out should not be enough for a person to be dissed. And the attitude of "I am what I am and I can say what I want to" just isn't cutting it. This goes for both the skinners and the commentors.
Be respectful, considerate, and remember to always add "I think" in the beginning of your comments. There is a huge difference between saying "this skin sucks man" and "I think this skin is badly done because...". Just as there is a big difference between calling someone a loser and saying "I will take your criticism into account next time."
Plus, I guess a lot of people would agree that dissing other people in public is downright nasty.
Another thing: Take a look at the people who write reviews in music/movie sites, or magazines. Now, they aren't all musicians or actors, are they? Same thing goes for blog skins. Just because someone doesn't design/doesn't submit their designs on here, it doesn't mean that this person cannot voice their opinions on a badly designed template. In fact their opinions should be all the more important, because they are the audience. They are what makes Blogskins work.
On the other hand, remember that just because something is not for your taste, it doesn't mean that it is not expertly done. It doesn't put you in very high esteem when you comment on something saying "This sucks because I don't like it." I agree that this is where being familiar with code and design comes in, so you can appreciate the effort even if you don't like the colors/layout.
Another funny thing is that there seems to be this "elite" bunch of skinners who get to decide the current trends in skinning, and who is a loser and who is not, which is funny indeed. Having an attitude is not necessarily being rude to people. In my opinion, anyone who bothers to go down to the level of losers aren't too different from them.
I am also a designer, and I love doing blog skins, but they are not available for download, since I like my stuff unique. So yes, I know about design and coding, I have a personal taste, and I'm not afraid to speak out. So sue me. Or hit me at http://www.msbrightside.com.
