you can start improving the coding by adjusting the sizes of your navigation and content bar. it looks too big for me.i think the image is pretty nice though! it would help too if you added a bit more color for the links since the layout's a bit plain.

i still appreciate the effort! you are a first timer after all and you're actually pretty good at this! :)
