The main picture I am refering to is usually the topmost picture. For me, I don't really adore simplicity like some people but more onto the complex, beautiful, outstanding kind of skins.
My question(s) here is to all professional photoshop users, experienced image editor; or whatever you call it.
How do you guys actually know how manipulate such great image(s)?
I have tried and failed terribly -

It may/may not look great to you. But to me, I seriously think it sucks.
Where from did you learn how to do it like this?
Is there any tutorials out there other then swimchick.net, cause I feel like the tutorials in swimchick.net are very limitied.
How many years did you play with photoshop/paint shop pro/gimp?

Also, how do you people, erm this is a stupid question but I tend to overbrush an image; making it look like ... back to the point. Is there any tutorials on how to brush properly or something? Or is it I just don't have the art factor? D:
Sorry all for this useless(?) tread, but I just can't find any other similiar threads that would be helpful, the world wide web isn't helping either.

just experiment,
i am not that good myself,
but blend/cut/brushes/whatever,
they should help,
blending is important,
try searching for tutorials.
