Gimp is more or less a mini-photoshop which has most of Photoshop's tools / controls. What's even better is that Gimp is FREE! Why use $600 on something you don't really know how to use when you can get a not-that-sophisticated-but-still-really-good program for free?
Just go to download.com and search in "gimp".
Make sure you download the installer at the gimp site before anything.

Nah, you can download photoshop brushes as stamps and then make it into brushes with gimp!

photoshop and paint shop pro brushes can be converted... you have to download the program though.... and the GIMP has it's own website its gimp.org

basically you cant use brushes in Paint.NET
but GIMP is cool.

omg gimp is coool! i dl gimp because i saw this forum and i dl it, omg it's cooll i dl brushes in deviantart.com just go there and search gimp brushes, alot of gimp brushes waiting for you to dl and it's completely freee!

I use GIMP too!
It's a rather simple program and it's not virus-infested.
Download it from gimp.org. It's much safer.
You can download brushes by going to deviantart, and searching "GIMP brushes" then you pick the ones you like and download them by clicking on those you want and you will go to another page where you can find a download link.
There are also many GIMP tutorials on the net, so you can just go google them or use a search website to seach for those tutorials. (:
And there ARE brushes for GIMP because some people DO convert photoshop brushes into GIMP brushes. So it really is like a mini photoshop.
