Show off your love for Singapore!
INTRODUCTION
In conjunction with Singapore's 43rd National Day on 9th August 2008, DayBefore!Misery (Karen), myadversity. (Ernest) and 狂然怪異 (Jeremy) present to you this competition - SGSKINS. It is a blogskinning competition where fellow skinners in the BlogSkins.com community are able to showcase their talents in designing, while also displaying their patriotism and love for Singapore.
All participants are welcome to design skins that describe how Singapore is important and how beautiful Singapore is to them etc. As long as your entry describes positively and appropriately the beauty and/or merits of Singapore, it will be accepted as an official entry of SGSKINS. Please note that we welcome all participants of all nationalities (Singaporeans, Singaporean Permanent Residents and non-Singaporeans). 
RULES
- Entries submitted into SGSKINS must comply with the following rules. Only a single warning will be given in the case of violation of the following rules. Failure to heed the warning by the end of the competition will result in disqualification.
- Participants of SGSKINS must be amateurs in designing and not be signed to any professional designing contract whatsoever.
- Each participant is able to submit only one entry.
- Entries must be designed to describe positively and appropriately the beauty and/or merits of Singapore.
- Entries must contain at least one image.
- Entries must be designed with English as the main language, while other languages can be used as long as it does not linguistically dominate the whole skin.
- Entries must not contain any form of content deemed offensive and/or in breach of the common law.
- Entries must display conspicuously the necessary credits and acknowledgements of all resources which do not directly belong to the skinner and have been used in the process of coming up with, preparing, creating and finalizing the entries.
- Credits and acknowledgements, if possible, must be displayed in the form of hyperlinks that directly link to the exact webpage where the resources can be found.
- Entries submitted into SGSKINS will only be recognized as official entries of SGSKINS when their BlogSkins.com Skin Info URLs are posted in this forum thread, and when EITHER of the following banners is pasted within the skin descriptions of the entries.

- Entries must be submitted into SGSKINS by 8th August 2008, 2359 hours (Singapore Standard Time, GMT+8). Entries submitted later than the stipulated time will not be entertained.

JUDGING CRITERIA
- Adherence to theme (10 points)
In this criteria, we will judge on how much the entry has described positively and appropriately the beauty and/or merits of Singapore, and the skinner's ability to fully convey the theme.
- Design (10 points)
In this criteria, we will judge on the image(s) portrayed in the entries, its visual appeal and its ability to captivate viewers.
- Content (10 points)
In this criteria, we will judge on the text portrayed in the entries, especially its arrangement and creativity. We will also judge on text within the images if available.
- Layout (10 points)
In this criteria, we will judge on the layout of the entries - how the elements of the blogskin are arranged presentably and creatively.
- Codes (10 points)
In this criteria, we will judge on the quality, readability and neatness of codes of the entries.
TOTAL: 50 POINTS
TITLES
After judgement, the judges will pick four skins to attain the following titles:
1. Champion (Entry awarded with the highest number of points)
2. First Runner-Up (Entry awarded with the second highest number of points)
3. Second Runner-Up (Entry awarded with the third highest number of points)
4. Consolation Award (Entry showing a significant amount of effort)
Entries attaining the titles above will be awarded a digital certificate that can be pasted within the skin descriptions of the entries.
NOTES
- You can start submitting now!
- The attainment of Skin Of The Day (SOTD) title and statistics of the entries (e.g. number of favorites and downloads etc) will not be considered within the judgement.
- Any official decision made by the judges of SGSKINS will be deemed final and irrevocable, unless otherwise stated.
- Results will be released as early as possible - hopefully on 9th August 2008 - to the best effort of the judges.
- If this competition receives a pitifully low standard of positive response throughout the course of the competition, the competition will be canceled regardless of whether any submission has been received.
- Please visit this thread regularly for more updates if you are joining SGSKINS.
- Should you have any enquiry with regards to the information stipulated above, please do not hesitate to direct it here.

but shouldnt you put the end date of submission a few days before 9th august,
so you could announce all results on 9th august itself, and declare the winners on that day?

Good luck bolong92, hehe.
You're right, but isn't the competition period short enough? I'm afraid the skinning period will be too short if we end the competition earlier  I'm not sure. We shall see how the others think about it, yeah?  Thanks for your concern anyway.
Teehee, you're right too because we might be busy watching the Olympics on the eighth hahahahahahaha. LOL =X

xmissyger, you don't have to resubmit. Just copy the Skin Info URL here. You only have to insert the competition banner into your skin description and edit the skin further if necessary to conform to the requirements. That's all We look forward to your submission.
Just a gentle reminder to all participants - PLEASE READ THE RULES CAREFULLY. MAKE SURE YOU CREDIT DIRECTLY TO THE EXACT PAGE WHERE YOU FOUND YOUR RESOURCES LIKE BRUSHES, IMAGES ETC.

Participants, please, unless you want to be awarded fewer marks for no creativity and originality, no more Singapore Flyer in your entries please D: T_T I'm sure there are much more things about Singapore that are also beautiful.
I'm not in any way against Singapore Flyer though. Just afraid to receive all skins with Singapore Flyer o.o Then I might as well call it a Singapore Flyer improvisation competition, right? LOL. Yeah but we will not be biased on skins about Singapore Flyer though, don't worry
We hope to receive a variety of skins.
Another suggestion, design skins that do not focus on Singapore's scenery too much. Again I'm sure there are a lot more non-nature stuffs about Singapore that makes it so special to you, eh?

ps i forgot where the image was directly from ( the user) but i noe it's from flickr.
So i credited it, tell me if i am disqualified & i will remove the banner if i am.

I apologize but currently we are not in need of additional judges due to the small number of submissions, apparently Should we fortunately receive a sudden influx of submissions, we might consider recruiting you as a judge into this competition. Do visit this thread regularly for more updates.
